The Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office Invites You to Participate On NORDC Community Advisory Teams The application deadline is July 15, 2013 The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) is actively seeking your participation in its neighborhood participation process (NPP). The NORDC NPP creates fifteen Community Advisory Teams ( CAT ) across the city, three for each City Council district. Each CAT is a space for you to work with your neighbors and NORDC staff and commissioners on recommendations for improvements at the parks you are most concerned about. These CATs will become the spaces where communities come together to discuss and prioritize what gets recommended to NORDC on an ongoing basis. Everyone interested in participating in a CAT will be accepted. If you are a parent, member of a booster club or community group, or simply interested in recreation, we encourage you to participate. Signing up is easy. Complete a one-page application, which commits you to 12 months on a NORDC CAT. But hurry, the deadline for the first year is July 15. An orientation will follow, on July 17 and each CAT will be launched in August. Follow this link to the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office web page to download the application. For the past several years the Annunciation Center building has operated as a full-time administrative office facility and part-time recreation center. In June, 2013 the building was repurposed to exclusively support the administrative needs of NORDC. This will in no way affect or change the public use of the basketball court, playground equipment, picnic tables, and multi-purpose field. These recreation amenities will remain open and available for use by the community. For answers to other questions about Annunciation programming moving to Lyons Center, click here.
