NEW ORLEANS, LA–Tomorrow, October 10, 2013, representatives from the Whole Foods Market Broad Street store will participate in a community information session on employment opportunities at the company’s second New Orleans location, now opening in February 2014. The meeting is hosted by Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s Office of Economic Development and the City’s JOB1 program.
Whole Foods Market will anchor the ReFresh Project, a 60,000-square-foot development at Broad and Bienville streets in New Orleans. The supermarket’s newest location, under construction at the former Schwegmann’s grocery store site, will create approximately 125 jobs. The ReFresh Project will also include Liberty’s Kitchen full service café and commercial kitchen and The Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine at Tulane University. Broad Community Connections, a non-profit organization working to revitalize the Broad Street commercial corridor, received a $1 million loan from the City’s Fresh Food Retailer Initiative to develop the ReFresh Project.
Whole Foods Market is committed to hiring local residents and available positions are posted online at http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/careers.
JOB1 will assist with the recruiting process. The JOB1 Mobile Unit will be stationed in the community in early November and early December to assist neighborhood residents with completing the online application. Residents can also receive assistance with completing applications at the two JOB1 Career Centers in New Orleans: 3400 Tulane Avenue in Mid-City and 3520 General DeGaulle Drive Suite 1030 on the West Bank.
