Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu

City to host community information session on Costco job opportunities

March 26, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA–Tomorrow, March 27, 2013, representatives from the national retail giant Costco will participate in a community information session on employment opportunities at the company’s first Louisiana warehouse, opening in New Orleans in mid-August 2013. The meeting is hosted by Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s Office of Economic Development and the City’s JOB1 program.

The new Costco Wholesale Warehouse, under construction at the 14.7-acre site formerly occupied by the Carrollton Shopping Center, will create approximately 200 jobs.

Costco is committed to hiring local residents and will host employment workshops and job fairs prior to the store opening. Available positions will be posted online in early April at http://www.costco.com.

JOB1 will assist with the recruiting process. The JOB1 Mobile Unit will be stationed in the community in the first two weeks of April to assist neighborhood residents with completing the online application. Residents can also receive assistance with completing applications at the two JOB1 Career Centers in New Orleans: 3400 Tulane Avenue in Mid-City and 3520 General DeGaulle Drive Suite 1030 on the West Bank.
