Local Workforce Development Plan (2016-2020)

Available for public comment:  Draft copy of The City of New Orleans & The New Orleans Workforce Development Board’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Regional/Local Combined Workforce Plan.

On July 22, 2014, the United States Congress passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) [Public Law 113-128] which rescinded the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998.

WIOA requires each workforce development board to develop and submit to the state a regional and local area a comprehensive four-year plan.  Below are links to the draft local plan, along with the executive summary and draft regional plan for reference.  The WIOA four-year plan will be effective July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2020. 

In accordance with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Section 108(d), the workforce development boards shall make copies of the proposed local and regional plan available to the public through electronic and other means; allow for public comment not later than the end of the 30 day period beginning on the date the proposed plan is made available; and, include with submission of the local plan any comments that represent disagreement with the plan.

Comments may be submitted from June 27, 2016 through July 27, 2016.  Please submit comments electronically to: kttran@nola.gov.
