(May 15, 2012)- The first quarter of 2012’s Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for New Orleans shows the murder rate fell more than 27% from January through March, as compared to the first quarter of 2011.

(May 11, 2012)- A 3-year-old Houma girl who was brought to New Orleans to attend a funeral with her family is in stable condition tonight after she was accidentally shot by a relative.
New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Section is investigating a Fatal Hit and run that left a 31-year-old woman dead and leaves an unidentified man in stable condition. The incident occurred shortly before 1:00am on I-10 eastbound at the Downman Road exit .
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 28-year-old Tara Bettencourt-Alexie, whose mother last contacted her by phone on Wednesday May 2, 2012.
