Hazard Mitigation Office

The Hazard Mitigation Office is a branch of the City of New Orleans’ Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The Hazard Mitigation Office is responsible for identifying hazards that threaten the City of New Orleans and crafting a policy to reduce the loss of life and property from future hazard events. The ultimate mission of the Hazard Mitigation Office is to reduce risk from natural and man-made hazards and ensure the future sustainability of New Orleans.

The Hazard Mitigation Office is currently updating the Hazard Mitigation Plan. Public participation is particularly critical to the relevance of 2015 Plan update and the implementation of the Plan. The City will be convening a meeting to gather input from the public on Monday October 19 from 6:00 to 7:30pm at Lake Area High School, 6026 Paris Ave, New Orleans, LA 70122.
