The City of New Orleans

Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu

Hazard Mitigation Office

The Hazard Mitigation Office is a branch of the City of New Orleans’ Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The Hazard Mitigation Office is responsible for identifying hazards that threaten the City of New Orleans and crafting a policy to reduce the loss of life and property from future hazard events. The ultimate mission of the Hazard Mitigation Office is to reduce risk from natural and man-made hazards and ensure the future sustainability of New Orleans.

The Hazard Mitigation Office is currently updating the Hazard Mitigation Plan. The 2015 Plan update process is bringing together stakeholders including the public. Public participation is particularly critical to the relevance of this process and the success of the Plan. The City will be convening a series of meetings to gather public input, but we would also appreciate it if you would take a moment to fill out our Hazard Mitigation Survey.

For more information, please contact the Hazard Mitigation Office.
