S&P Updates City's Credit Rating Two Levels to A+

NEW ORLEANS  – Standard and Poor’s (S&P) Rating Services today upgraded its long-term and underlying rating from ‘A-’ to ‘A+’ on the City of New Orleans’ general-obligation debt and issued a positive outlook for all ratings. This is the third S&P rating upgrade for the City of New Orleans since Mitch Landrieu became mayor in 2010 – the first upgrade occurred in 2013 to ‘BBB+’ from ‘BBB,’ the second occurred earlier this year from ‘BBB+’ to ‘A-'.

Mayor Landrieu and RTA Announce $10 Million Grant for New Canal Street Ferry Terminal

NEW ORLEANS—The City of New Orleans announced today that the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) more than $10 million in grant funding to develop a new ferry terminal at the end of Canal Street through the Obama’s Administration’s Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery VII (TIGER) competitive grant program.

NORDC to Host Workshops for Organizations to Learn About Summer Camp Partnership Opportunities

NEW ORLEANS—The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will host three Technical Assistance Workshops to share opportunities to partner with NORDC during the 2016 NORDC Summer Camp Session.   All organizations that provide quality summer programming or services for youth and teens ages 4 – 15 are invited and encouraged to attend a workshop.

City Issues Traffic Advisory for Filmore Area

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory to temporarily close portions of Prentiss Ave. and St. Bernard Ave. in the Filmore area. The City is currently reconstructing St. Bernard Ave. between Robert E. Lee Blvd. and Filmore Ave. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, Prentiss Ave. near the intersection of St. Bernard Ave. will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. through Monday, Nov. 2 at 5:00 p.m.

Parking Instructions and Traffic Restrictions for Events on Oct 24, 2015

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events on Oct. 24, 2015. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

NEW ORLEANS —Mayor Mitch Landrieu, along with the New Orleans Pelicans, RPM Pizza and PlayNOLA, today announced the start of the tenth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, a program that  focuses on providing safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for males over 16 years old through basketball, mentorship and support.

Construction to Install Lighting Begins at Joe W. Brown Victory Track and Field

NEW ORLEANS— Today, the City announced the start of high-mast lighting construction at the Joe W. Brown Victory Track and Field in New Orleans East.  Public safety is our top priority, so the track and field will be closed throughout construction. All other facilities and amenities within Joe W. Brown Park will remain open to the public.  As an alternative, residents are encouraged to use the walking trails in the park.
