Airport Aggressively Seeking Local DBE Companies for North Terminal Work

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The New Orleans Aviation Board (NOAB) and City of New Orleans are aggressively seeking and encouraging DBEs (disadvantage business enterprises) to participate on the new $650 million North Terminal project at the Airport. Since the January announcement of the plans for a new terminal, officials have hosted two DBE outreach sessions to inform and encourage local DBE participation. The terminal is set to open ahead of the 300th anniversary of New Orleans in May 2018.

Mayor’s Office Announces New Initiative on Racial Reconciliation

NEW ORLEANS, LA— Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced a new multi-year initiative focused on race, reconciliation and community-building. Funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Welcome Table New Orleans, will bring citizens of different racial groups and backgrounds together to build relationships that lead to improvements in key areas throughout the city.

City Issues Reminders in Advance of the 2014 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

NEW ORLEANS, LA— With the 2014 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival set to open at the Fair Grounds Race Course on Friday, April 25, the City issued a reminder today regarding the procedures and requirements for permitting for public parking in the festival’s vicinity as well as businesses selling goods. This year’s Festival dates are Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27 and Thursday, May 1 to Sunday, May 4.

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans race scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2014. This race is a 70.3-mile triathlon, consisting of three stages: swimming, cycling, and running.

NORDC to Host Easter Egg Hunt This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS, LA—The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will host a family-friendly Easter Egg Hunt at Joe W. Brown Park on Saturday, April 12, 2014 and at Behrman Park on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both dates.

NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Tomorrow, the City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Pelicans and PlayNola will continue the sixth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball. Midnight Basketball focuses on providing safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative. NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball is free of charge and open to males over 16 years old.
