Second Online Auction for Adjudicated Property Auction Scheduled for Aug. 5

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans will host its second in a series of online monthly auctions for adjudicated properties on Aug. 5, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to a rolling close in the case of last-minute competitive bidding.

Second Online Auction for Adjudicated Properties Scheduled for Aug. 5

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans will host its second in a series of online monthly auctions for adjudicated properties on Aug. 5, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to a rolling close in the case of last-minute competitive bidding. The City is scheduled to sell about 176 properties throughout the community, where winning bidders will receive full ownership of each property.

Registration Deadlines for NORDC Fall Athletics Quickly Approaching

NEW ORLEANS— The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) is reminding all families that registration for fall youth athletic programs including cheerleading, football and volleyball are quickly approaching. Throughout the year, NORDC offers athletic activities to youth across the city through individual and team sports.

NORDC and USA Football to Host Volunteer Football Coaches Clinic at Joe W. Brown

NEW ORLEANS— The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will hold USA Heads Up football training for NORDC volunteer football coaches on Aug. 1, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Joe W. Brown Park. NORDC invests in comprehensive training for youth volunteer football coaches with clinics that cover concussion awareness, proper equipment fitting, and Heads Up Tackling fundamentals.

Season Nine of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues

NEW ORLEANS—On Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, the City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Pelicans and PlayNola will continue the ninth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, which provides safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative.

City Celebrates Opening of New Stallings St. Claude Center and Pool

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City officials and FEMA opened the new, $6.2 million Stallings St. Claude Center and Pool at 4300 St. Claude Avenue in the Bywater neighborhood. This new 17,000-square-foot facility replaces the previous 13,000-square-foot community center that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina.

Heat Advisory for New Orleans Until 6 p.m. Today

NEW ORLEANS—The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory in the New Orleans area until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015. The weather forecast indicates that the heat index in New Orleans is expected to exceed 105 degrees, and these hot temperatures can become life-threatening if the proper precautions are not taken.

Mayor Landrieu and Councilmember Guidry to Hold District A Meeting on Thursday

NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday, July 30, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Councilmember Susan Guidry will host a community meeting in City Council District A to discuss budget priorities as the City begins its 2016 budgeting for outcomes process. Other City officials attending include deputy mayors, New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Superintendent Michael Harrison, New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) Superintendent Tim McConnell and other department and agency leaders.

Mayor Landrieu Donates Funds to Help Restore Vandalized Law Enforcement Memorial

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu donated $2,500 from his campaign fund to support the restoration of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers Memorial after vandals damaged the solemn site on Sunday, July 26.
