City of New Orleans to Hold Abandoned Vehicle Auction

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Thursday, November 6, 2014, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works will hold its fourth abandoned vehicle auction of 2014. The auction, located at Almonaster Auto Pound, 10200 Almonaster Avenue, will begin at 9:00 a.m. Vehicle preview day and buyer registration is Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. No one will be admitted after 3:30 p.m. for security reasons.

Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy, NOVAC Announce Web Weekend 2014

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy in partnership with The New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC) announces Web Weekend 2014, an event for small screen content creators who want to learn about the craft, business, and opportunities of video on the web. NOVAC will present panel discussions, conversations, parties and featured video content from online and web series celebrities.

Joe W. Brown Pool Closed for Repairs

NEW ORLEANS – The Joe W. Brown Pool at 5601 Read Blvd. is temporarily closed for repairs. Repairs are anticipated to be completed in three weeks. During this time, shuttle service from the Treme Recreation Center at 900 N. Villere St. has been suspended.

Season Seven of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Week 3

NEW ORLEANS, LA—TOMORROW, the City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Pelicans and PlayNola will continue the seventh season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball. Midnight Basketball focuses on providing safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative. NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball is free of charge and open to males over 16 years old.

The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

The New Orleans Fire Department Issues an Important Reminder: Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery ®

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Daylight-saving time ends Sunday, November 1st and once again the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) would like to remind area residents, to test your smoke detectors and change out your old smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries when you turn your clocks back this year.
