NEW ORLEANS, LA— Today, the City’s Department of Sanitation announced that on Saturday, August 11, 2012, Iron Mountain will host a “Shred Day” at the City’s monthly recycling and e-waste drop-off event at 2829 Elysian Fields Avenue from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Iron Mountain will provide an on-site mobile shred unit to securely and confidentially shred documents for free.
Residents may bring up to 50 pounds of documents to be shredded. Iron Mountain will shred mixed office paper, light cardboard and similar materials. They will not shred plastic, compact disks, DVDs or other metal (other than paper clips or staples).
At the City’s ongoing recycling and e-waste drop-off on the second Saturday of each month, residents are encouraged to bring newspapers, junk mail, shredded paper, magazines, telephone books, plastics #1,2, and 3 (water, soda, milk, juice, plastic pots from nurseries, detergent containers, etc.), plastic bags, waxed cartons (juice, milk), small metal cans, cardboard, and up to four tires. E-waste, including computer hardware or accessories, telephones, telephone systems, DVRs security systems, cell phones/bag phones, DVD movies & video games, MP3 players, portable navigation and GPS devices, printers, toner/ink jet cartridges, fax machines, UPS, digital cameras and picture frames, stereos, beepers/pagers, networking equipment, and cables are also accepted.
