NEW ORLEANS, LA—The City of New Orleans has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award recognizes state and local governments that prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting.
“The Budget Office works year-round on planning, developing and managing the City’s operating budget,” said First Deputy Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer Andy Kopplin. “I’m proud of the work our team is doing to maintain a budget that is comprehensive, understandable and goal-oriented.”
This is the fourth year the City has been recognized with this award. Documents submitted to the Budget Awards Program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and by outside reviewers with experience in public-sector budgeting.
