City issues reminder of parking instructions and traffic restrictions in advance of 2013 St. Joseph's Day Parade

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the St. Joseph’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., the parade begins at Canal and Chartres Streets. Proceeding down Chartres, the parade turns left onto St. Peter Street, then left onto Royal Street, turning right onto Bienville Street, then right onto Bourbon Street. The parade marchers will stop at St. Louis Street for a toast and will watch while the floats pass in review. The floats will turn right onto Toulouse Street and continue to Decatur Street and turn right. The floats will continue on Decatur Street to Canal Street where the float portion will end. The marchers will follow the floats on Toulouse Street to Royal Street and turn right. The marchers will continue on Royal Street to Canal Street where the marchers will disperse.

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

In addition, RTA services, including both streetcar lines and bus service will be interrupted along the course. Details on route changes are available at www.norta.com.
