City issues reminder of parking instructions and traffic restrictions in advance of events scheduled for Easter Sunday, March 1, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the events scheduled for Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. 

Historic French Quarter Easter Parade
On Sunday, March 31, starting at 10:00 a.m., the Historic French Quarter Easter Parade begins traveling down St. Louis to Dauphine, left on Dauphine to Iberville, left on Iberville to Bourbon, left on Bourbon to Toulouse, right on Toulouse to Charters, left on Charters to St. Peter, left on St. Peter to Bourbon, right on Bourbon to St. Ann, right on St. Ann to Charters where the riders will disembark attend mass. The parade will resume from St. Ann and Charters on Charters to Dumaine left on Dumaine to Royal left Royal to Iberville to Charters, left on Charters to St. Louis, left on St. Louis to Antoine’s where the event will disband.

30th Annual Chris Owens Easter Parade
On Sunday, March 31, starting at 1:00 p.m., the 30th Annual Chris Owens Easter Parade will begin departing from Canal and Bourbon on Bourbon to St. Philip, right on St. Philip to Decatur, right on Decatur to N. Peters on N. Peters to Canal, right on Canal to Bourbon where the event will disband.

14th Annual Gay Easter Parade
On Sunday, March 31, starting at 4:30 p.m., the 14th Annual Gay Easter Parade begins departing from Rampart and St. Ann on Rampart to St. Louis, against traffic on St. Louis to Bourbon, on Bourbon with traffic to Esplanade, right on Esplanade to Royal, right on Royal to St. Louis, left on St. Louis to Rampart, right on Rampart to Toulouse, right on Toulouse to Burgundy where the event will disband.

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

In addition, RTA services, including streetcar lines and bus service may be interrupted during these events. Details on route changes are available at www.norta.com.
