NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, Mayor Landrieu, City Officials and Chevron, in partnership with the New Orleans Super Bowl XLVII Host Committee, will hold a grand opening ceremony celebrating the successful reopening of Harrell Stadium. Thanks to the public-private partnership between the City of New Orleans, the NORD Foundation and Chevron, the turf from Super Bowl XLVII was preserved and installed at Harrell Stadium. In addition to the turf, Harrell’s basketball court has been renovated, and a new stadium scoreboard and PA system have been installed.
This investment will breathe new life into the play and community gathering spaces that are vital to the economic and social vibrancy of this neighborhood.
Immediately following the press conference a grand opening celebration will be held, featuring basketball, football, track and other sports activities for kids of all ages. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided.
