NEW ORLEANS, LA — Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City Councilmembers, City officials and FEMA will reopen the newly renovated John P. Lyons Center at 624 Louisiana Avenue. The Lyons Center has been closed since Hurricane Katrina. The total cost of the renovation was $4.9 million with funding coming from FEMA recovery dollars and City bonds.
Also, on Monday, June 3rd, the Lyons Center swimming pool and the 12 other City-operated swimming pools will open. The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission will facilitate summer aquatics programs throughout the city that will focus on water skills and education.
