Any Orleans Parish resident interested in participating on Community Advisory Team will be welcomed, and participation among all ages is encouraged, with eligibility starting at eight years old.
The Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office and NORDC will conduct a training for all Community Advisory Team members on July 17, 2013 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Treme Center, 900 North Villere Street.
Approved in January 2013 after months of community input, research review and discussion, the NORDC NPP provides a framework for effective public participation in citywide recreation issues. It calls for the creation of 15 Community Advisory Teams, three per council district, which will meet to discuss and make recommendations on recreation-related topics. The goal is to help ensure that community needs and concerns are an integral component of NORDC decision making.
