City issues reminder of parking instructions and traffic restrictions in advance of events scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2013. 

Freret 5K

On Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 8:00 a.m., the Freret 5K Half Mile Race will depart from 4645 Freret Street and proceed on Freret Street to Valmont Street where it will U-turn and return to 4645 Freret Street.

The Freret 5K Race will depart from 4645 Freret Street on Freret Street to Jefferson Avenue, turn right on Jefferson Avenue to Story Street, U-turn at Story Street onto Jefferson Avenue, continuing river bound to Freret Street, turn right on Freret Street to Broadway Street, U-turn onto Freret Street continuing to 4645 Freret Street where the race will disband.

Freedom Run

On Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 8:30 a.m., the Freedom Run will start at 829 Baronne Street and proceed against traffic on Baronne Street to Julia Street, turn right against traffic onto Julia Street and proceed to Camp Street, turn left onto Camp Street and proceed to Girod Street, turn right onto Girod Street and proceed to South Peters Street, turn left onto South Peters Street and proceed to Dumaine Street, turn left onto Dumaine Street and proceed to Dauphine Street, turn left onto Dauphine/Baronne Street and proceed to 829 Baronne where the race will disband.

Krewe of Jingle Parade

On Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., the Krewe of Jingle Parade will start at O’Keefe Avenue and Howard Avenue and proceed to Lee Circle, turn left at Lee Circle to St. Charles Avenue, proceed on St. Charles Avenue to Canal Street, turn right onto Canal Street and proceed to South Peters Street, U-turn onto Canal Street and proceed to Dauphine Street, turn left onto Dauphine/Baronne Street and proceed to Howard Avenue where parade will disband.

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

In addition, RTA services, including streetcar and bus service may be interrupted during these events. Details on route changes are available at www.norta.com.
