NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued filming notices to New Orleans residents in the Uptown area.
On Thursday, April 24, 2014 through Saturday, April 26, 2014 a production company will be filming exterior scenes at the intersection of Religious St. and Market St. During the evening hours, the filming activity will include a simulated car crash. As a result, the intersection will be closed to vehicular traffic nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please note that Tchoupitoulas St. will be open for two-way traffic during these hours to allow for this street closure. In coordination with NOPD and on-site law enforcement, the production will utilize simulated gunfire during filming hours. Law enforcement, EMS and NOFD will be on site to ensure public safety and to help facilitate the work.
Film New Orleans within the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy assists productions with the City’s permitting process, connects productions with local crew and resources, and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.
In 2013, New Orleans hosted 60 tax credit film projects (TV, films, and commercials with budgets over $300,000), with direct spending of $456 million.
