Mayor Landrieu Announces Partners to Participate in NOLA FOR LIFE Services Collaborative

July 24, 2014

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, Mayor Landrieu announced partners chosen to participate in the NOLA FOR LIFE Services Collaborative, the next phase of the NOLA FOR LIFE Community of Practice. The NOLA FOR LIFE Services Collaborative will convene four groups of community partners to address relevant social service needs of at-risk and high-risk individuals with regard to prevention, intervention and rehabilitation.

“I am happy to announce additional collaborating partners as we move into the next phase of NOLA FOR LIFE implementation,” said Mayor Landrieu. "There is more work to be done to keep every person in our city safe and we’re committed to seeing it through to the end.”

Mayor Landrieu launched NOLA FOR LIFE in May 2012, building strategic partnerships with national and local partners to create and implement initiatives in five main categories to build safe neighborhoods. From prevention to intervention to rehabilitation and enforcement, the comprehensive strategy seeks to improve outcomes, specifically creating jobs and opportunities for young men and boys between the ages of 16 to 30.

Through NOLA FOR LIFE, the NOLA FOR LIFE Fund was created to deliver high-quality programs and critical social services to young men most at-risk of killing or being killed.

In an effort to coordinate sustainable interventions and solutions, ten NOLA FOR LIFE Fund grantees were invited to participate in a 12-month Community of Practice (CoP). The model for the continuum was developed by the Community of Practice under the visioning phase of the NOLA FOR LIFE Fund.

The next phase of the work is the NOLA FOR LIFE Services Collaborative, which will convene four (4) tables of community partners to address the relevant service needs of at-risk youth, high-risk youth, high-risk young adults, and adult returning citizens with regards to prevention, intervention and rehabilitation. The groups will be responsible for the identification and development of the following core continuum elements:

  • Common intake and assessment tools
  • Evidence-based best practice models and program standards
  • Shared performance measures
  • Universal client tracking system

The NOLA FOR LIFE Services Collaborative does not include funding to organizations chosen to participate. It will, however, allow for the best possible leverage of service providers who are already working in the most critical service areas.

A call for applications to participate in the NOLA FOR LIFE Services Collaborative was released on May 30, 2014.

The following organizations were recommended based on their service of the NOLA FOR LIFE target population, relevance of services, track record of success and their commitment to collective impact and collaboration.
