NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events scheduled for the weekend of August 1-3, 2014. The public is encouraged to be patient and prepared for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas and to make transportation arrangements accordingly.
From Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 4, Barracks Street from Decatur Street to North Peters Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Satchmo SummerFest Parades
On Friday, August 1, starting at 11:30 a.m., the Satchmo SummerFest Opening Parade will begin at 700 Decatur Street, continue on North Peters to Barracks Street, turn left on Barracks Street and disband at the Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade Avenue).
On Sunday, August 3, starting at noon, the Satchmo SummerFest Second Line Parade will begin at St. Augustine Church on the corner of Gov. Nicholls Street and Henriette Delille Street, proceed to Rampart Street, turn right down Rampart Street to St. Ann Street, U-turn at St. Ann Street, continue up Rampart Street, turn right on Esplanade Avenue and disband at the Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade Avenue).

On Saturday, August 2, the 200-600 blocks of Julia Street from Fulton Street to St. Charles Street will be closed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking. This includes blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection, or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.
