New Orleans, LA--Due to weather-related City Hall closures, the City announced today that renewals for Occupational Licenses and Mayoralty Permits for artists to operate on Jackson Square for 2014 will be extended to Tuesday, February 4, 2014. The Department of Finance, Bureau of Revenue, will accept new applications for artists interested in operating on Jackson Square on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 on a first come, first served basis. Applications will be accepted for the remaining available permits and licenses in the Bureau of Revenue office located on the 1st floor of City Hall, Room 1W15. There are a total of 200 Jackson Square artist permits and licenses that can be issued. Office hours are 8am-5pm.
All artists interested in obtaining an annual Occupational License and Mayoralty Permit must submit a completed registration application or provide proof of an existing artist account. All applicants must be prepared to pay fees in the amount of $175.25 in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to the City of New Orleans.
An Occupational License enables you to do business within Orleans Parish and the Mayoralty Permit additionally specifies the type of business being operated when there is no fixed place of business or there is a specific nuance to the existing business.
