Media Advisory: GE Foundation to Announce Grant to Support New Orleans Skills and Economic Development

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the GE Foundation will announce a multi-year grant to support the development of advanced manufacturing and water management skills in New Orleans. The program will support Delgado Community College’s ongoing efforts to train certified water infrastructure personnel, helping to fill critical infrastructure jobs by connecting job seekers to opportunities at the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans.

Renaissance RX Announces 425-Job Biomedical Expansion in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, LED Secretary Stephen Moret and Renaissance RX founder and CEO Tarun Jolly announced the biomedical company will create at least 425 new direct jobs and make an $8 million capital investment in a new headquarters location in the Central Business District of New Orleans. Founded in 2012 with five employees at the New Orleans BioInnovation Center, Renaissance RX has experienced rapid growth.

Mayor Landrieu to Announce New Efforts to Promote Mississippi River Commerce and Sustainability

NEW ORLEANS, LA – TODAY, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join over 20 river mayors as part of the Mississippi River Cities & Towns Initiative (MRCTI) to announce new efforts to improve the health and sustainability of the Mississippi River and its communities. The mayors will unveil the Mississippi River Sustainability Development Fund that will provide grants to support startup costs associated with sustainable waterfront development.

Sewerage and Water Board Confirms that City's Water is Safe to Drink

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans announced that it is aware of the slightly unusual odor present in the city’s drinking water.  Water quality testing performed by its laboratory indicates that the drinking water is safe to drink and that it meets or exceeds all EPA and LA-DHH water quality requirements.
