City activates freeze plan for homeless

NEW ORLEANS, LA— The weather forecast indicates the temperature or wind chill factor in New Orleans is expected to fall to 35 degrees or below overnight on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. All citizens should take appropriate precautions to protect themselves from the potentially dangerous effects of this weather. Citizens are encouraged to check on neighbors and the elderly to make sure they are prepared.

Season Seven of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Week 4

NEW ORLEANS, LA—TOMORROW, the City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Pelicans and PlayNola will continue the seventh season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball. Midnight Basketball focuses on providing safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative.

City Announces Third Round of Small Business Assistance Fund Loan Program

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development will launch the third round of the Small Business Assistance Fund (SBAF) loan program, a financing opportunity created by Mayor Landrieu in partnership with NewCorp, Inc. to support the growth of new and existing small businesses. The application period will be on a rolling basis. SBAF applications are currently available online at www.newcorpinc.com.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, during the first annual Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) Summit, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Rockefeller Foundation President Dr. Judith Rodin, and 100 Resilient Cities President Michael Berkowitz announced the appointment of Jeff Hebert as the City’s Chief Resilience Officer (CRO).

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10:15 AM, the Mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, will join the President of the Rockefeller Foundation, Judith Rodin, and the 100 Resilient Cities President, Michael Berkowitz, to address the 100 Resilient Cities first annual Chief Resilience Officer Summit. As part of their keynote address, Mayor Landrieu, Dr. Rodin and Mr. Berkowitz will announce New Orleans’ own Chief Resilience Officer.
