Mayor Landrieu, Federal, State, Local Officials to Discuss Preparations in Advance of 2016 Mardi Gras

NEW ORLEANS – TOMORROW, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and federal, state and local officials will discuss preparations in advance of the 2016 Mardi Gras season as well as advise the public of parking instructions, traffic restrictions and safety regulations. Parades are scheduled to begin next Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

Mayor Landrieu, Federal, State Health Officials Prepare for Citywide Day of Enrollment

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join Deputy Assistant Secretary J. Nadine Gracia of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and Office of Minority Health, Secretary Rebekah Gee of the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, and other local officials to encourage residents enroll in health coverage through the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace (the Marketplace) before the 2016 deadline.

Construction Begins on New North Terminal at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined the New Orleans Aviation Board (NOAB), regional elected officials, business and tourism leaders to break ground on the new North Terminal complex at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The brand new, world-class airport terminal will serve as a crucial economic driver for the New Orleans metropolitan region and provide a lasting impression to visitors due to its modern design and open architectural concept.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined New Orleans Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Rouse, EMS Director Dr. Jeff Elder, Councilmembers, FEMA, and City and State officials to celebrate the opening of the new, state-of-the-art New Orleans Coroner’s Office and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Headquarters in the B.W. Cooper neighborhood.

City to Celebrate Groundbreaking on New North Terminal at Louis Armstrong International Airport

NEW ORLEANS —Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join the New Orleans Aviation Board (NOAB) along with regional elected officials and business and tourism leaders to break ground on the new north terminal at Louis Armstrong International Airport.  Construction manager Hunt-Gibbs-Boh-Metro will complete the new terminal for an opening date of Oct. 1, 2018.  In total, the project will generate nearly $1 billion in direct investment in the region.

Today, the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation and JOB1 announced a 2016 Mardi Gras Clean-Up Operations Job Fair to recruit for 150 temporary employees during the 2016 Mardi Gras season.

NORDC Kicks Off 2016 Spring Programming

NEW ORLEANS—The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) announced its programming for spring 2016. Spring programming began Jan. 11 and ends May 6. NORDC will facilitate various programs and classes throughout the city including, indoor aquatics, fitness classes, soccer, baseball and softball, piano, visual arts, choir, and dance.

City to Host Trainings for Contractors on 'HireNOLA' and DBE Program Rules

NEW ORLEANS—The City of New Orleans will  kick off a series of free seminars to provide training on its new Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) contract and labor compliance software systems and HireNOLA policy. The trainings are open to the public and will be held at Delgado Community College City Park Campus, H. Giles Hall, 615 City Park Ave., New Orleans, LA  70119.
