City Hall Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

NEW ORLEANS– Today, the City of New Orleans announced that City Hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 and Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Emergency personnel will operate as normal and will not be affected by this closure.

City Hall will resume normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.

NORDC to Host 69th Annual Division I Football Championship, Parade of Champions

NEW ORLEANS – Tomorrow, Nov. 21, 2015, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will host its 69th Annual Division I Football Championship games, Parade of Champions and award ceremony at Joe W. Brown Victory Stadium. The parade and football championship games are sponsored by Chevron and are free and open to the public.

Season Ten of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues

NEW ORLEANS  —On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, the City of New Orleans alongside the New Orleans Pelicans, Domino’s Pizza and PlayNola will continue the tenth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, which provides safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative.

Parking Instructions and Traffic Restrictions for Events on Nov 21-22, 2015

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events for the weekend of Nov. 21 – 22, 2015. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly

Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City Council Announce 2016 Operating Budget Agreement

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined members of New Orleans City Council to announce agreement on the City’s 2016 Operating Budget. During today’s Regular Meeting, City Council voted on budget amendments and unanimously passed the $601.7 million operating budget. A final procedural vote on the 2016 Operating and Capital Budgets will occur on Dec. 1, 2015 making the City’s 2016 Budget official.

Mayor Landrieu, Local, State, Federal Official to provide update on Emergency Preparedness Activities

NEW ORLEANS – Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join local, state and federal officials to provide an update on the City of New Orleans’ emergency preparedness activities. As a major port and a tourist destination, the City regularly conducts exercises throughout the year in coordination with public and private organizations on the local, state and federal level to improve its ability to respond to a variety of incidents including natural or manmade disasters and terrorist threats.

New Orleans Selected for Code for America Partnership for 2016 Fellowship Program

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced a new partnership with Code for America for the 2016 Code for America Fellowship Program. "We are proud and honored to welcome Code for America back to New Orleans,” said Mayor Landrieu. “This partnership will support our economic opportunity strategy and generate tools for connecting disadvantaged job seekers and businesses to new opportunities."

Entergy Upgrades to Cause I-10 Closures This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS -  Entergy New Orleans will be upgrading transmission lines running throughout the city on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15. Sections of I-10 at the Carrollton exchange near Xavier University will be intermittently closed as Entergy completes the latest phase of a $30 million upgrade to the city's electric power transmission system. Police will stop traffic in both directions on both Saturday and Sunday at S. Telemachus and S. Genois streets.

City Releases Office of Police Secondary Employment Annual Report

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans released the Office of Police Secondary Employment’s Annual Report covering Sept. 2014 through Aug. 2015. This annual report satisfies specific requirements of the New Orleans Police Department’s federal consent decree and offers a transparent overview of how the reforms to the police secondary employment system are progressing.
