City Unviels Resilience Strategy

NEW ORLEANS, – Mayor Landrieu, joined by The Rockefeller Foundation President Judith Rodin, 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) President Michael Berkowitz, New Orleans Chief Resilience Officer Jeff Hebert, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrator (NOAA) Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, unveiled Resilient New Orleans – a concrete, strategic roadmap for the City of New Orleans to build urban resilience.

Mayor Landrieu Issues Statement on Planned Collaboration Between HUD & State on Road Home Grants

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu issued a statement following the announced collaboration between State of Louisiana’s Office of Community Development, Disaster Recovery Unit and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide additional construction assistance and administrative remedies for Road Home Program grant recipients who have not yet returned to their homes, not yet elevated or are otherwise non-compliant with the Road Home Program.

NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana State Police Senior Trooper Steven J. Vincent died today from injuries sustained when he was shot in the line of duty on Sunday afternoon. Vincent was a 13-year state police veteran. In response, Mayor Landrieu issued the following statement.

City Monitoring Hurricane Danny

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans continues to closely monitor Hurricane Danny, which, as of Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 1 p.m. CT, was located 635 miles east of the Leeward Islands moving west at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds at 85mph.

Mayor Landrieu and Councilmember James Gray Join CVS/Pharmacy to Break Ground on Lower Ninth Ward Store

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and District E Councilmember James Gray joined CVS/pharmacy to break ground on a new store in the Lower Ninth Ward. This is a major milestone for this area, marking the first major retailer to commit to a project in the neighborhood since Hurricane Katrina. The new store is scheduled to open in January 2016, bringing 20 new full and part-time permanent jobs to the community.

Groundbreaking Scheduled for CVS in Lower Ninth Ward

NEW ORLEANS – On Friday, August 21, 2015, Mayor Landrieu will join CVS/pharmacy executives along with District E Councilmember James Gray to break ground on a new store in the Lower 9th Ward.

CVS/pharmacy will open a 13,225 square foot retail pharmacy at 5000-5030 North Claiborne Avenue, the corner of North Claiborne and Forstall Street.

Mayor Landrieu to Address 10th Anniversary Katrina Commemorative Events

NEW ORLEANS – Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will address some of the major events leading up to the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. In particular, he will discuss the Citywide Day of Service, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. Mayor Landrieu and the City, with support from Walmart, have set a goal to engage 10,000 volunteers and focus service on seven specific regions of the City to work on 100 individual projects.

City of New Orleans to Hold Abandoned Vehicle Auction

NEW ORLEANS – On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at 9:00 a.m., the City of New Orleans’ Department of Public Works will hold its fourth abandoned vehicle auction of 2015. The auction, located at Almonaster Auto Pound, 10200 Almonaster Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70127. Vehicle preview day and buyer registration will be Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. No one will be admitted after 3:30 p.m. for security reasons.
