History

Located in Uptown New Orleans, the Burtheville Faubourg was established on January 24, 1854 by plantation owner Dominique Francois Burthe. Throughout the years this neighborhood has evolved into one of the most beautiful residential areas of New Orleans.

The Burtheville Association of Neighbors, one of the oldest neighborhood associations in Uptown New Orleans, was established in 1986 to insure the preservation of this historic residential neighborhood. Working with urban land use professionals, preservationists and local government agencies, the association's mission has been to support the neighbors with a well informed voice to insure that this vital and treasured neighborhood is left intact for future generations.
