The Historic Faubourg Treme Association was formed in 2006 in response to community needs following Hurricane Katrina. The neighborhood is comprised of approximately 1,500 residents, with a 37 percent vacancy rate in the neighborhood. Many initiatives directly impact this small historic portion of Treme. The community organized to provide voice to these initiatives and to work for improvements that benefit the whole rather than a few.
