On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 5:16 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) began what proved to be a very busy morning. It began with the NOFD receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire in the 6800 block of Mayo Blvd.

On Monday, November 28, 2016 at 7:07 p.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire in the 2100 block of Calhoun St., a neighborhood adjacent to Tulane and Loyola Universities.

Early Morning Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Bakery

Tuesday morning at 3:46 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire in a commercial structure at the corner of Elysian Fields Ave and Robert E. Lee Blvd. NOFD firefighters arrived on the scene of the Buttermilk Drop Bakery, located at 6220 Elysian Fields Ave, at 3:53 a.m.  Upon arrival flames were already through the roof with most of the bakery’s interior already fully involved, a second-alarm was struck shortly after at 4:05 a.m.

On Sunday, November 13, 2015 at 11:45 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire with the possibility of persons trapped at a New Orleans East apartment complex located at 10500 Hayne Blvd.

Fire Prevention Week "Don't Wait, Check the Date"

It's time for Fire Prevention Week, and from October 9th-15th the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) has joined forces with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Red Cross (ARC) and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal (LSFM) to inform local residents about checking smoke alarm expiration dates with its 2016 campaign of “Don’t Wait, Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years”.
