Motorcycle Crash Claims The Life Of A Lockport Man In The Central Business District

July 01, 2013

Tonight, members of the New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Unit are investigating a motorcycle accident that left a 56-year-old man from Lockport La. dead.  The accident occurred at approximately 11:00 P.M., on the US 90B on ramp at Howard Avenue.

The 56-year-old driver of a dark colored 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on the US 90B entrance ramp when for reasons unknown lost control of his motorcycle and struck the concrete guard rail.  He was ejected from the motorcycle, went over the concrete guard rail and fell from the elevated portion of the ramp to the ground on Howard Avenue.  The driver was the only person on the motorcycle and died on the scene.

The investigating is ongoing.

Blood and alcohol tests are pending and the Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The lead Fatality Investigator is Richard Blackman III and can be contacted at 658-6237.
