Carjacking Suspect Identified In Two Separate Incidents In Marigny Neighborhood

August 06, 2013

New Orleans Police have identified Derrin Riley, 18, (aka Darrin Riley) as one of the suspects in two carjackings and have issued an Arrest Warrant for two Counts of Armed Robbery.  NOPD asks your help in locating Riley and information on three other unknown suspects that are wanted in the incidents.  Both carjackings took place August 3, 2013, one in the 800 block of Clouet Street and the other in the 400 block of Marigny Street.

In the Marigny Street incident, the suspects held up two women and their 3-year-old and directed them to put all of their property in their vehicle and then drove off in their Jeep.

The women say the two African-American males approached them around 8:30pm as they were just getting back to their Jeep, which they’d parked in the 500-block of Marigny Street.  One of the women got situated in the car with the toddler while the driver loaded up the car with their belongings.  One of the men pointed a shiny, black firearm at the driver and demanded she give up her watch and her vehicle.  The other suspect approached the woman on the passenger side, and demanded that she, too, give up her watch and get out of the vehicle.  Both women's purses and other belongings were also inside of the vehicle.

The victims pleaded with the men that they let them take the little girl out of the Jeep, and they complied. The men then drove off.

Police brought the victims to the Eighth District station, where they described the suspects to a sketch artist and two computer composite sketches of those suspects were developed.

On that same day, another similar carjacking took place in the 800 block of Clouet Street where the victim was robbed and Carjacked.  Derrin Riley has also been identified as one of the suspects in this case.

Both vehicles that were stolen have been located and are being processed for evidence.

Derrin Riley was previously arrested for Illegal Carrying of a Weapon and Resisting a Police Officer.
