CITY ISSUES REMINDER OF PARKING INSTRUCTIONS AND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS FOR THE FRENCH QUARTER IN ADVANCE OF MARI GRAS CELEBRATIONS

February 28, 2014

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders for the French Quarter in advance of Mardi Gras celebrations and anticipated large crowds.

Starting at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 and continuing until Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 6:00 a.m., no on-street parking or vehicular traffic into the French Quarter is allowed between Iberville, North Rampart, Dumaine, and Decatur streets, except those vehicles issued permits. Vehicles in violation are subject to a $75.00 fine and seizure ($153.00 tow fee).

To keep residents and visitors fully informed this Mardi Gras season, the City launched a Mardi Gras Information and Updates website at www.nola.gov/mardigras. For the first time, the City has compiled updates on safety regulations, enforcement policies, permitting information, and helpful suggestions, including interactive parade maps in one location so residents and visitors can be better prepared before heading out to parades.
