CITY ISSUES PARKING INSTRUCTIONS AND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS IN ADVANCE OF 2014 GREEK FESTIVAL AND RACE

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events held this Memorial Day weekend. The 2014 Greek Festival will be held Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the Holy Trinity Cathedral complex at 1200 Robert E. Lee Blvd. The Anytime Fitness 5k Walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2014 in New Orleans East.

GREEK FESTIVAL RACE
The Greek Festival 1-Mile Race is scheduled for Friday, May 23 starting at 7:00 p.m. Runners will start at the intersection of Wisner Blvd. and Robert E. Lee Blvd., proceed river bound on Wisner Blvd., U-turn before Filmore Ave., and proceed back to the start/finish line at  the intersection of Wisner Blvd. and Robert E. Lee Blvd. The 5-K Race will begin at 7:20 p.m. starting at the intersection of Wisner Blvd. and Robert E. Lee Blvd., proceed on Wisner Blvd., U-turn at Harrison Ave., and return to start/finish line at the intersection of Wisner Blvd. and Robert E. Lee Blvd.

GREEK FESTIVAL PARKING
In the residential neighborhoods adjacent to the Holy Trinity Cathedral complex, parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs, and parking in Handicap zones.

Vehicles parking on the neutral ground are subject to a parking violation and seizure. Please note that vehicles parked in driveways must be clear of sidewalks or they will be ticketed or towed.  Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

On-street parking of vehicles equipped with living accommodations are prohibited and will be enforced 7pm-7am.

Parking on the west bank of Bayou St. John (Filmore Ave. to Robert E. Lee Blvd.) is prohibited and will be strictly enforced. 

ANYTIME FITNESS VICTORY 5K RUN
Starting at 8:15 a.m., runners will start from the parking lot on Waterford Dr inside of Joe Brown Memorial Park to Read Blvd, turn left on Read blvd and proceed to Dwyer Blvd, turn left on Dwyer Blvd and proceed to Wright Blvd, u-turn at intersection on Dwyer blvd and proceed to Read Blvd turn right on Read Blvd to Waterford Dr, turn right on Waterford inside Joe Brown Memorial Park where the event will disband.
