NEW ORLEANS, LA—TOMORROW, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas will host a Recruitment event for the New Orleans Police Department at 10:00 a.m. at Langston Hughes Academy located at 3519 Trafalger Street. Residents are invited to participate in the forum specifically designed to attract local and qualified candidates to apply for a position with the New Orleans Police Department. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and start the application process onsite; network and hear the stories of current officers and interface with NOPD leadership from specialized units.
The New Orleans Police Department, in collaboration with the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, launched an active recruitment campaign called “Get Behind the Badge” in 2013. Today, job seekers can apply online for the police department and learn about the entire recruitment process at www.joinnopd.org.

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age, have obtained a high school diploma or a state approved G.E.D.; and have at least 60 hours of college credits, or the equivalent of two years of full service in the military.
