NEW ORLEANS—A quick response by NOPD officers and Louisiana State Police Troopers led to the arrest of a bank robbery suspect this morning minutes after the incident happened.
Around 10:48 a.m., the NOPD received a call of a reported robbery at the Capital One Bank branch located at 313 Carondelet Street. The teller told police that the suspect, later identified as Daniel Clukin (DOB: 2-27-1990), walked into the bank with a note that said he had a gun and he wanted money. The teller complied and then notified police.
An NOPD officer on patrol in the area immediately spotted Clukin, broadcast descriptions of the suspect over her police radio and then began to chase after him. With the help of the officer’s descriptions, LSP troopers quickly tracked down Clukin to the intersection of Union and O’Keefe where they were able to arrest him.
The investigation was turned over to the FBI Violent Crime Task Force for further investigation and the subject will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Louisiana.
