Early Voting

March 23, 2024 - Presidential Preference Primary/Municipal Primary Election

 

  • The deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 19, 2024 by 4:30 p.m (other than military and overseas voters). You can request an absentee ballot online through our Voter Portal or in writing through your Registrar of Voters Office.

Early voting dates for the March 23, 2024 Election will be held Saturday, March 9,  2024 through Saturday, March 16, 2024 (excluding Sunday, March 10, 2024) beginning daily at 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. 

There are four early voting locations: 

City Hall-1300 Perdido Street, New Orleans LA 70112 Room 1W24

Algiers Courthouse- 225 Morgan Street, New Orleans LA 70114 Room 105

Voting Machine Warehouse- 8870 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans LA 70127

Lake Vista Community Center- 6500 Spanish Fort Blvd.-2nd Floor Meeting Room

 

  • The deadline for a registrar of voters to receive a voted absentee ballot is Friday, March 22, 2024 by 4:30 p.m. (other than military and overseas voters).
  • On election day, the polls are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • For Election Day Saturday March 23, 2024 to locate polling and polling places you can use the GeauxVote App or by calling the Orleans Parish Registrar at 504-658-8300 or Louisiana Secretary of State of office 225-922-9000.

Military and overseas citizen's requests for absentee ballots must be received by the registrar of voters no later than 4:30 p.m. CST one day prior to the scheduled election date. 

The deadline for returning voted ballots to the registrar of voters office for an election are as follows:        

  • by 8 p.m. on election day for military personnel;
  • by 8 p.m. on election day for U.S. citizens residing outside the U.S.; or
  • by 4:30 p.m. on the day before election day for all others.

Not quite a performance of the normal sorts but the 2020 Presidential Early Voting Election brought in record breaking early voting numbers!

The Registrar of Voters is urging New Orleans voters to early vote!

Lights Out!!!

Mrs. Valez White, commissioner (above) puts a positive spin on Early Voting when city hall lost power.  The theme: Voting by Candlelight.

Early voting continued without a glitch for nearly six hours without power. Voters were able to vote on battery powered early voting machines. 

Voting was slower than normal but all went well thanks to those voting and a good back up plan.
