For vehicles and drivers operating for-hire

The Ground Transportation Bureau, a division of the Department of Public Works, is responsible for the permitting and enforcement of vehicles and drivers operating for-hire within the City of New Orleans. This includes the following:

  • Taxicabs
  • Limousines
  • General charter vehicles
  • Sightsteeing vehicles
  • Non-emergency medical vehicles
  • Pedicabs
  • Carriages
  • Charter party carriers (Party buses)
  • Privately-owned school buses

The Bureau also regulates tour guides, tour planners and tour companies operating in the City of New Orleans.

The Ground Transportation Bureau office is closed to the public. All applications must be emailed to gtb@nola.gov. Payments may be paid online or mailed to our office.

CPNC Hearings

Public CPNC hearings are held at 10:00 AM on the fourth Friday of every month, with the exception of November and December, which are held on the third Friday.

All CPNC hearings are being held virtually. To access the hearing, please follow the link below for video conference or call the number below for teleconference.
