The City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) will conduct adult mosquito abatement tonight. Adulticide applications this evening will target adult populations of mosquitoes.
- New Orleans Police are asking the public's assistance with locating a suspect wanted for resisting arrest and flight from an officer.
The NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect who stole a plaque commemorating the victims of a tragic fire at the Upstairs Lounge in 1973.

The City of New Orleans today announced that starting Wednesday, May 1 at 9 a.m., the Department of Public Works (DPW), in close coordination with the Louisiana Department of Transportation (LaDOTD) will close the eastbound right lane, along the stretch of I-610 between Paris Avenue and the Elysian Fields Avenue off-ramp.
The City of New Orleans today reminds residents that one traffic safety camera and four school zone safety cameras will be reactivated on Wednesday, May 1 at 7 a.m. These cameras had been vandalized and have since undergone repairs for reactivation.
The City of New Orleans today announced that the Department of Public Works (DPW) construction contractor Command Construction Industries, L.L.C. will close one of the Eastbound lanes of North Claiborne Avenue from Saint Roch Avenue to Arts Street to accommodate asphalt work. During this time, access will be limited to one lane (see map attached). All lanes will reopen by 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.

Beginning May 10, 2024, at 5:01 pm, all prospective variance applicants must first file a building permit application with the Department of Safety and Permits and obtain a zoning review specifying needed variances prior to submitting a variance application to the Board of Zoning Adjustments.

NEW ORLEANS - Today, Council President Helena Moreno celebrated the arrival of Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine, only the sixth HBCU medical school in the country, to the City of New Orleans. The new college of medicine at Xavier will advance the work of what is already the nation’s premier academic training center for medical professionals of color. Xavier already graduates more African-American students and students of color who achieve Medical Degrees and Ph.D’s in health sciences than any other educational institution in the nation.
