Winter Weather, Jan. 12-18

The National Weather Service forecasts freezing temperatures in the New Orleans area beginning Friday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 18. A mix of very light wintry precipitation is possible in the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 16, but no accumulation is anticipated. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions during winter weather.

The New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission regulates, preserves, and protects historic districts and landmarks in the city with the exception of those areas covered by the Central Business District Historic District Landmarks Commission and the Vieux Carre Commission.  


The Mayor appoints nine to fifteen members subject to the approval of the City Council. For each historic district created by ordinance of the City Council, at least one member of the Commission shall be appointed who is a resident or who owns property in the district. 

Term Length

Four years.
