Become a Station
The City Code authorizes the Department of Safety and Permits to approve of two types of inspection stations: Satellite Stations, which are public inspection stations; and, Fleet Stations, which are authorized to perform inspection only on vehicles owned or leased by a specific operator.
If you operate an auto repair shop or gas station, have enough space to perform a road test, and have been in business at least 90 days, you may be eligible to become a satellite station. Satellite stations serve the general motoring public, performing vehicle inspections for a minimum of 40-hours per week. For more information, please contact us at email@example.com.
If your business owns or leases at least 10 vehicles registered in Orleans parish, the business may qualify to become a fleet inspection station. As a fleet station, you will be allowed to inspect your own fleet vehicles, issuing tags to them upon inspection. For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any business interested in becoming either a Satellite or Fleet inspection station may download the Motor Vehicle Inspection Station Application and can find complete inspection station requirements in the City Code.
Any person performing inspections on a motor vehicle within Orleans Parish must be approved by the Department of Safety and Permits. Please use this Motor Vehicle Inspection Application to register an inspector with the city.
All public satellite stations are required to submit a Motor Vehicle Inspection Log to the Department of Safety & Permits on a weekly basis. The document must list all inspections performed at that station, with the corresponding inspection decal serial numbers.
