The City of New Orleans

Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu

School and Out-of-School Sector

The School and Out-of-School sector is working to increase access to physical activity and healthy eating opportunities for youth in New Orleans.

Congratulations to our 2017 Fit NOLA Schools!

DTA-Banner-photo-small-(1).jpgOn May 10, New Orleans Health Department Director Dr. Marsha Broussard awarded 17 schools with the Fit NOLA Schools designation. These schools have demonstrated a commitment to making health and wellness a priority - in particular, promoting healthy eating and physical activity. The event took place in the school garden of the ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron school.

Designated schools were given a mini-grant, banner, Mayoral proclamation, resource guide, and tailored recommendations to assist them on their journey.

Hynes-proclamation-photo-(1).jpgThe Fit NOLA School Designation program is funded by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, The United States Conference of Mayors and the American Beverage Association Foundation. Fit NOLA continues to connect with potential partners to support the program.
