Home » Mayor's Office » News » STATEWIDE ORDER ALIGNED WITH ORLEANS MANDATE; RESIDENTS ORDERED TO 'STAY HOME' THROUGH MAY 15
April 27, 2020 | From City of New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell issued the following statement today, following Gov. John Bel Edwards’ announcement bringing Louisiana’s statewide order into alignment with the existing Stay Home Mandate in Orleans Parish. Residents and businesses are reminded that for continued success in flattening the curve and reducing the spread of COVID-19, the Stay Home order will remain in effect through May 15. The Governor’s announcement will not result in any changes to the existing mandate in Orleans Parish.
“As Governor Edwards made clear today, it is absolutely critical for the safety of our people that residents continue to STAY HOME at this time, and not move prematurely to resume public activity,” said Mayor Cantrell. “The Stay Home Mandate I issued for the people of Orleans Parish remains in effect through May 15, and the governor has now extended the statewide order through that same date. We need everyone to double-down. People must continue to stay home except for essential activities, and people must wear face coverings in public. Stay home now, so we can all come together safely when the time is right.”
