NORD Encourages Residents to Register for Fall and Teen Programming at Upcoming Back to School Expos

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission today announced it will host its annual Back to School fall expos this Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Three expos will be hosted simultaneously across the city at the following locations:

  • Joe W. Brown Recreation Center (5601 Read Blvd.)
  • Morris F.X. Jeff Recreation Center (2529 General Meyer Ave.)
  • Rosenwald Recreation Center (1120 S. Broad St.).

During the expos, families will have the opportunity to learn more about NORD fall programming, registration details and upcoming events, including athletics, youth and teen programs; fitness, aquatics, dance, and arts; and NORD’s Halloween Spooktacular and Fall Movies in the Park series. NORD fall expos are free and open to the public.

Expos will also feature a backpack and school supply giveaway. Parents must attend the expo with their children to participate in the backpack giveaway. Anyone interested in donating school supplies for the expo may drop off new and/or unused school supplies at any NORD facility or the Administration Building, located at 5420 Franklin Ave., until Friday, Aug. 12.

Several partnering organizations will be on hand to register participants for other fall programs hosted at NORD sites. The New Orleans Public Library and many other community organizations will be on-site to provide information and resources about the services they offer to the community. For a complete list of vendors, call (504) 658-3033.

For more information on registering for NORD fall programming, residents can go to their neighborhood NORD recreation center or visit www.nordc.org.
