Boil Water Advisory for NOLA East Bank

The Sewerage & Water Board issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the East bank of New Orleans, including the Lower 9th Ward and New Orleans East, due to a drop in water pressure.

NORDC to Host a Family Fun Walk at Pontchartrain Park

NEW ORLEANS—The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will host a superhero-themed Family Fun Walk featuring a 2.2 mile walk around Pontchartrain Park on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 9 a.m. to noon to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month. The event will include breaks with fun activities including hula hooping, basketball, tennis, golf, baseball and raffle prizes. Food and drinks will be provided.

City Opens New Rosenwald Pool and Pool House

NEW ORLEANS — Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City officials, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) and FEMA announced the opening of the new $2.3 million Rosenwald Pool and Pool House at 1120 S. Broad St. in the B.W. Cooper neighborhood. The former pool and pool house were severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will accompany leaders from the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Mayor Landrieu is the USCM Vice President and he will be joined at the convention by USCM 2nd Vice President Columbia (SC) Mayor Steve Benjamin and USCM Immediate Past President Baltimore (MD) Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

Season Twelve of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues

 Saturday, July 23, 2016, the City of New Orleans along with the New Orleans Pelicans, RPM Pizza, MetroPCS and PlayNOLA will continue the twelfth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, which provides safe recreational activity, jobs and opportunities in crime hot spots for males over 16 years old through basketball, mentorship and support.

City Successfully Secures Final Settlement of $1.2 Billion from FEMA to Repair Hurricane Katrina-related Damage to New Orleans' Roads and Subsurface Infrastructure

Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced that FEMA has obligated $1.2 billion in recovery funds to repair Hurricane Katrina-related damage to New Orleans’ roadways and subsurface infrastructure, including water, sewer and drainage pipes. The settlement of $1.2 billion in previously unobligated recovery funds brings the total to over $2 billion secured under the Landrieu Administration for roads and subsurface infrastructure.

City of New Orleans Joins White House in Data-Driven Justice Initiative to Disrupt Cycle of Incarceration

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans announced that it has joined the White House’s Data-Driven Justice Initiative (DDJ) by committing to using data-driven strategies to help break the cycle of incarceration. New Orleans is one of 67 city, county and state governments that has committed to using these strategies to divert low-level offenders with mental illness out of the criminal justice system and change approaches to pre-trial incarceration.

The certificate program assesses a local government’s performance management program and encourages analysis of results by comparing to peers and gauging performance over time.
