Mayor Landrieu to Join U.S. Conference of Mayors at Interfaith Service in Dallas

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will travel to Dallas for the Interfaith Service to honor the lives of five slain police officers last week and show support for the Dallas community. Mayor Landrieu was invited by Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and will join the leadership team of The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) for this trip.

City Receives Grant from W.K. Kellogg Foundation to Continue to Support Community Health and Wellness in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced that City of New Orleans has received a $700,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to continue support community health and wellness. This grant will fund a partnership between the City of New Orleans Health Department’s FIT NOLA initiative, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC), the New Orleans Recreation Development Foundation, Market Umbrella, Louisiana Public Health Institute and community wellness programs.

Mayor Landrieu and NOPD Superintendent Harrison Join New Orleans Faith Leaders, Police Officers and Hundreds of People for a "City United in Prayer Walk"

NEW ORLEANS – Yesterday, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Michael Harrison joined New Orleans faith leaders and police officers in show of unity at a “City United in Prayer Walk” at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. In light of the recent shootings across the nation, including this past week in Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights and Dallas, a community of local pastors led hundreds of New Orleans citizens in a prayer vigil.

Mayor Landrieu Announces NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Season 12

NEW ORLEANS —Mayor Mitch Landrieu, along with the New Orleans Pelicans, RPM Pizza, MetroPCS and PlayNOLA, today announced the start of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Season 12, a program that focuses on providing safe recreational activity, jobs and opportunities in crime hot spots for males over 16 years old through basketball, mentorship and support.

Mayor Landrieu and Councilmember Gray to Hold District E Community Meeting

NEW ORLEANS– On Monday, July 11, 2016, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Councilmember James Austin Gray II will host a community meeting in City Council District E to discuss budget priorities as the City begins its 2017 budgeting for outcomes process. Other City officials attending include deputy mayors, New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Superintendent Michael Harrison, New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) Superintendent Tim McConnell, and other department and agency leaders.

City of New Orleans to Hold Abandoned Vehicle Auction

NEW ORLEANS – On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works will hold its fourth abandoned vehicle auction of 2016. The auction will take place at the Almonaster Auto Impound lot located at 10200 Almonaster Avenue and begins at 9:00 a.m. The vehicle preview and bidder registration is Monday, July 11, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Heat Advisory Issued for New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS— The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in the New Orleans area for today, Tuesday, July 5, 2016, until 7 p.m. this evening. The weather forecast indicates that high humidity levels will result in heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees in New Orleans, and these hot temperatures can become life-threatening if the proper precautions are not taken.
