Boil Water Advisory for NOLA East Bank

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for the East bank of Orleans Parish. Bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area is safe to drink and can be used for personal needs.

Parking Instructions and Traffic Restrictions for 2016 Memorial Day Weekend Events

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events to be held this Memorial Day weekend, Friday, May 27 through Sunday, May 29, 2016. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

City Of New Orleans To Hold Online Auction For Adjudicated Properties This Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans will host its monthly online auction for adjudicated properties on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to a rolling close in case of last-minute competitive bidding. Nineteen properties are scheduled to be sold throughout the community, where winning bidders will receive full ownership and title insurance for each property.

City to Hold City-Assisted Evacuation Hurricane Exercise

NEW ORLEANS – Tomorrow, the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will join, the New Orleans International Airport and other partners for the annual City-Assisted Evacuation hurricane exercise. City-Assisted Evacuation provides transportation to approximately 30,000 people in Orleans Parish who cannot leave the city on their own during a mandatory evacuation for an emergency such as a hurricane.

Mayor Landrieu to Join U.S. Conference of Mayors Delegation in Cuba

NEW ORLEANS – Mayor Mitch Landrieu will travel to Cuba as part of a U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) delegation trip from Wednesday, May 25 through Saturday, May 29, 2016. While in Cuba, Mayor Landrieu will meet with government officials in Havana and visit some of Cuba’s most important political, economic and cultural organizations, including Mariel Port. Topics of discussion with local leaders will include economic development, education, healthcare, infrastructure and transportation.

City to Host Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair Thursday

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans will host a Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair on Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at JOB1, 3400 Tulane Avenue, to supply information about how residents can pre-qualify to work with the City’s contractors following a disaster. All interested residents over the age of 18 are invited to attend.

Since Mayor Landrieu took office in 2010, 1,013 people have been murdered in New Orleans. On April 27, Mayor Landrieu gave an address on violence in New Orleans at Tulane University, during which he outlined steps that the City has taken to reduce violence.

City Health Department Nationally Recognized for Ability to Respond to Public Health Emergencies

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans Health Department (NOHD) announced that it was recognized by the National Association of County & City Health Officials’ Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) program for the department’s ability to plan for, respond to and recover from public health emergencies. NOHD’s emergency preparedness program plans for and responds to all public health emergencies in New Orleans including natural disasters, disease outbreaks, mass casualty incidents and more.
