NEW ORLEANS – On Saturday, April 9, 2016, the City of New Orleans’ Department of Sanitation will host another free paper shredding event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City’s Recycling Drop-Off Center located at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave.

A financial website study ranked New Orleans first in the nation for how efficiently the City spends taxpayer dollars on particular key expenditures like education and law enforcement.  Analysts with financial website WalletHub ranked 78 of the largest cities on various expenditures to identify those that most efficiently spend public resources and how well they manage the challenges that are unique to their communities.

FEMA Releases Finalized Flood Maps for New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released final Flood Insurance Rate Maps for New Orleans that remove many properties from Special Flood Hazard Areas.

New Orleans' Resilience Strategy Recognized by American Planning Association

NEW ORLEANS — Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced that the City of New Orleans’s resilience strategy, Resilient New Orleans, has been awarded the 2016 National Planning Excellence Award for a Best Practice by the American Planning Association (APA). Released in August 2015, Resilient New Orleans is the City’s planning strategy to make New Orleans more resilient, sustainable and prepared to meet challenges and adapt to change.
