Mayor Landrieu attends U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will travel to Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) Winter Meeting. The meeting will focus on a number of national issues including,  job creation, fiscal cliff agreement and sequestration, gun control, threat to tax-exempt financing, Hurricane Sandy response and immigration. 

The USCM is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are 1,204 such cities in the country today. Each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.

Over 250 Mayors will attend the USCM Annual Winter Meeting at the Capital Hilton Hotel from January, 17 to January 19, 2013.

Additionally, Mayor Landrieu is the chair of the Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment and Sports (TAPES) committee. He will lead a committee meeting at the conference. 

Live video from each day's sessions will be on the U.S. Mayors Facebook page and LiveStream channel. Video will be available of each plenary session along with select breakfasts and lunches. Photos from individual sessions will be uploaded to the U.S. Mayors Flickr page each day.

Mayor Landrieu will return to New Orleans on Friday.
