NEW ORLEANS, LA — Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the Crescent City Classic 10-K road race scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
In advance of the race, at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, NOPD officers will divert all traffic on Poydras Street from South Claiborne Avenue to Loyola Avenue including the areas surrounding the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sugar Bowl Drive, West Stadium Drive and Dave Dixon Drive.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m., the runners will depart from Poydras and Loyola, proceed river bound on Poydras (Runners will use river bound Poydras only past Loyola) to S. Peters, turn left onto S. Peters to N. Peters to Decatur to N. Peters to Esplanade, turn left onto Esplanade (Runners will use both sides of Esplanade) and proceed lake bound on Esplanade to N. Carrollton/Wisner, veer left of the traffic circle to N. Carrollton to City Park Avenue, turn right onto City Park Avenue (with traffic) to Anseman turn right onto Anseman to inside the park. Runners will continue on Anseman to Victory, turn right/against traffic on Victory to Turner Lane, turn right onto Turner Lane to Dreyfous, turn left onto Dreyfus past the Casino, over the bridge, past the museum to Lelong, turn left with traffic onto Lelong to the New Orleans Museum of Art, veer right/counter clockwise around the New Orleans Museum of Art to Roosevelt Mall, turn right onto Roosevelt Mall and veer left at the fork to the finish line.
Race participants that are driving to the race are encouraged to park in downtown long term lots and use the shuttle system race organizers have arranged. The race course will become a no-parking zone beginning at 12:00 a.m. midnight Friday evening. At this time, towing will begin along the course to allow for Crescent City Classic organizers to begin set-up for the race. Meters will be bagged and signs will be posted warning residents of the parking restrictions.
Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs, in the residential neighborhoods adjacent to the starting and finish line, including Navarre, City Park, and Bayou St. John. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

The City of New Orleans also advises residents that on Saturday, March 30, due to the Crescent City Classic, animal drawn carriages that normally stage at Jackson Square along Decatur will be restaged from the morning until 12:00 p.m. During this time, carriages will be staged at the 600 block of St. Louis.
