NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, the City of New Orleans announced that it will hold a Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 4:00 – to 5:30 p.m. at the Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board’s offices located at 2100 Leon C. Simon Boulevard.
The City’s Department of Sanitation, the Office of Supplier Diversity and Office of Workforce Development/JOB1 are hosting the informational fair in conjunction with the City’s current disaster recovery contractors responsible for debris removal and monitoring.
The City is committed to providing opportunities to local individuals and business owners who may be interested in helping the City recover in the event of a disaster such as a hurricane. The Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair will help identify individuals and businesses that may be able to assist with these efforts.
At the event, presenters will provide information regarding the basic requirements needed to pre-qualify to work with the City. Companies with hauling equipment with a capacity greater than 30 cubic yards, bulldozers, forestry trucks, bobcats and front end loaders interested in subcontracting opportunities, and individuals over the age of 18 interested in working as debris removal monitors, are welcome to attend. All interested individuals and businesses, especially small and local businesses and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) are strongly encouraged to attend.
